How are Your Golf Spikes?
- February 4, 2008
How often do you replace your golf spikes? If you can’t think of the answer, or the answer is “every time I get a new pair of golf shoes,” then you are missing out on a big advantage.
Many bad swings are caused by the people that make them, but not all of them are. Having worn down golf spikes can result in lost traction, sliding, spinning, and all sorts of strange compensations as your brain tries to figure out exactly what the heck is going on.
As far as traction goes, nothing could beat metal spikes. The new plastic spikes work well too, and since they are much easier on the greens, everyone should be using them. If you haven’t changed your spikes in over 10 rounds, you will notice a huge difference in your traction after you change them. Replacements are pretty cheap, and the return on your investment is worth the money.
Remember, a solid swing starts with a solid foundation.
