Wrist Strength Exercise
- January 3, 2008
Having less than strong wrists will make a dynamic golf swing very difficult to achieve. At the top of the swing, the wrists balance the club as your body reacts to your objective of hitting the ball at the target. At impact, your wrists are the first major joints to receive the full force of impact with the ball and the ground. Strengthening your wrists will improve your ball striking and it will improve your longevity as well.
A simple exercise for strengthing your wrists can be done with a golf club or a dumbbell.
Stand with you arms at your sides and the club or dumbbell in one hand.
Lift the club or dumbbell with only your wrist, so the club or dumbbell is pointed straight towards the sky.
Do as many repititions as you can while only using your wrists. Then switch hands and repeat.
This exercise will help build the wrist muscles that athletic golfers need to be successful.
