Split Grip Drill for a Better Release
- December 26, 2007
Here is a simple little drill to help you feel a proper release in your golf swing. By proper release, I mean a release that is not flipping or casting the club.
Take your normal stance and normal grip. Then, slide your right hand down to the very bottom of the grip, so that there are a few inches separating your right pinkie finger and left index finger. Then, just make a normal golf swing.
I don’t need to explain to you what this drill does: you will feel it.
But if you must know, basically, it prevents your wrists from breaking down incorrectly, and keeps the arms and body working together. You could say that it prevents you from doing anything really, really strange in your swing. But if there’s a will, there’s a way ![]()
